The study of neural activity and behavioural responses in systems neuroscience has always been a challenging task. Thanks to its transparency and genetic amenability, the larval zebrafish can be considered a suitable model organism to monitor and manipulate the activity of defined cell types in vivo and to observe the relationships between circuit function and behaviour. Currently, my research activity is focused on:

  • Molecular mechanisms that govern the developmental differentiation and function of the zebrafish cerebellum.
  • Optogenetic analysis of neural circuitry combined with behavioral assays and in vivo calcium imaging using genetically encoded fluorescent reporters.
